Thermal Efficiency Comparison

Back to Why it Works
The above chart compares the thermal efficiencies of a typical natural
gas-fired boiler and an electric boiler. Note the electric boiler reaches
an operating efficiency of 99% at only 30% of full load while the gas boiler's
turn-down capabilities are much more limited. This is because gas boilers at
low ouput have to heat a lot of excess air in order to maintain proper
combustion.
The electric boiler has no stack losses and experiences very little
“skin” heat loss. You can actually place your hand on the electric
boiler while it operates at maximum capacity!
